In our tests, the IQ was able to handle pet hair effectively, clearing an impressive amount of debris from floors with no flooring and moderate amounts from medium-pile carpet. It was less effective with shag carpets, as it had a hard time reaching dirt and dust buried within the fibers. It did a decent job of maneuvering around chair legs, tight spaces, and the bottom of an wooden IKEA step stool. We did notice it was a bit slower on floors with no flooring however it soon recovered speed and performed more thoroughly than the other robots we tried.

The IQ is a better choice for the majority of users than the iRobot Roomba. It has a bigger dust bin, lasts longer on a charge and is more capable of maneuvering itself over obstacles. It has a mopping tool that can clean up sticky messes. The iRobot, on the other hand feels better built, has fewer components that require maintenance or replacement and incurs fewer cost per year, and can create virtual no go zones using its companion application.
